YELLOWCARD

Yellowcard: The Mann Center, Philadelphia, PA. 7/11/23.

I can’t believe it’s been 20 years already since Yellowcard released the album Ocean Avenue that took the early 2000’s by storm. I was so excited for the chance to sing along to all the all of Yellowcards hits throughout the years. Opening the show was This Wild Life, Story of the Year, and Mayday Parade. The openers really set the tone for the rest of the show jumping all over the stage and everywhere you’d look in the crowd you could find a crowd surfer. The band ran out in the dark and when the lights came on they started their set with “Way Away” and “Breathing” two hits from their Ocean Avenue album. One of my favorite moments of the show is when they played “Empty Apartment” and the crowd was singing along. They finished their set with “Back Home” but the crowd knew they weren’t going to leave without playing “Ocean Avenue”. They came back on to play “With You Around” and “Only One” and when they started playing “Ocean’s Avenue” the crowd erupted in cheer and were singing, jumping, and crowd surfing through the whole song”. The night was the perfect combination of reminiscing and living in the moment. I’ll definitely be looking out for the next time Yellowcard is coming through Philadelphia.
