THE HEAD AND THE HEART & THE REVIVALISTS

The Head and the Heart & The Revivalists: Mann Center, Philadelphia, PA. 7/12/23.

I was excited to head down to the Mann Center to see two of my favorite bands playing together. The show started with an early scratch as Jaime Wyatt couldn’t make it but she was replaced by local Philly artist Julia Pratt who was very well received by the crowd when she said she had her car towed early in the day but it all went uphill when she got a call to open for the Head and the Heart. After a short but great set she left to a loud ovation from the crowd. The Revivalists came out to “Criminal” one of their older hits and right away you could tell it was going to be a legendary set. David Shaw ran from side to side of the stage getting the audience into it before running out onto the riser and greeting the fans from above. It was an extremely interactive set that included their biggest hits. After playing their all time song of “Wish I Knew You” they brought out Head and the Heart to sing “Kid” which was a super cool moment for the crowd. They finished their set with “Good Old Days” and left the crowd wanting more. Although everyone was sad the Revivalists were done they were still excited for the main attraction to take the stage. When The Head and the Heart took the stage to “All We Ever Knew” the crowd instantly began singing along and continued that throughout the duration of the set. When they played “Lost In My Mind” they returned the favor and bring The Revivalists onto the stage. A highlight of the set was when they played “Honeybee” and “Every Shade of Blue” back to back. They closed out the show with “Rivers and Roads” which had everybody in the crowd dancing from side to side and singing along.
