THE VACCINES: PICK-UP FULL OF PINK CARNATIONS REVIEW
After seeing the Vaccines open up for the Kooks in Philadelphia and put on an unbelievable show, I knew I needed to review their new album; Pick-Up Full of Pink Carnations. The album starts off with “Sometimes I Swear” a song that has both their old sound as well as their new sound melded together. It’s the perfect song to sing along to while driving in your car with it’s fun melody and heavy guitar riffs. The next song on the album is “Heartbreak Kid” which has the drums come in strong in the beginning as the song gives you early 2000’s rock vibes. The next song on the album is “Lunar Eclipse” my personal favorite as it is the perfect song to dance around the house to..
Arts Fishing Club: Rothko Sky - Album Review
Arts Fishing Club (AFC) recently released their first full length album ‘Rothko Sky’. Nearing the end of a four month tour, Philly was graced by their presence on July 13th as the band played Milkboy, which Shaky Cam was so excited to be able to cover. With a sound that fits right in with some of the best indie rock bands Philly locals would recognize, AFC left their mark on the city as we were left anticipating this new installment in their catalog.
Mo Lowda and The Humble - Album Review
Mo Lowda & the Humble’s self-titled album dropped today, and after attending their Free at Noon concert at World Café Live this past Friday, we are so excited this record is out in the world. Mo Lowda is a four-piece indie rock band that makes their home in Philly, and they are set to head out on an album release tour later this month. Introducing seven new tracks as well as five others previously released ahead of the full album, “Mo Lowda & the Humble” is an incredible addition to an already stellar catalog.
Palisades Reaching Hypercritical - Album Review
Palisades Reaching Hypercritical Album Review
Prior to the album releasing I had gotten a small taste of what was coming with the release of their song “Sober”. This was such a cool new sound we were hearing out of Palisades since the switch of their lead singer from Lou Micelli (who had recently decided to leave the band) to bassist Brandon Elgar stepping up as lead vocalist. The album leads off with a bang with my favorite song off the album “My Consequences” which has the classic heavy Palisades instrumentals and really highlights Brandon’s vocal range which gives off a strong Linkin Park vibe.
