HEADLIGHT RIVALS/ULTIMATE FAKEBOOK
Headlight Rivals/Ultimate Fakebook, The Press, Manhattan, KS. 6/14/24.
Ultimate Fakebook stopped by The Press to play a hometown show on Friday, June 14th. The band played the entirety of their first album This Will Be Laughing Week in celebration of the 25th anniversary of its release.
Local favorites Headlight Rivals started us off right. They put on such a solid show, and I look forward to seeing them play every chance I get. Friday night was special, as they were joined by John Demitro from the Colorado-based band Pink Fuzz on guitar. Everyone played a killer set together and got the crowd wound up and ready to go.
Ultimate Fakebook was up, and the hometown heroes had an absolutely packed house for their welcoming party. This show brought in the largest crowd that The Press has seen to date. Their sound has been described as power pop, and they delivered exactly that. It was such a high-energy show. The band invited everyone on stage with a sign reading “It’s time to get on stage and dance with us. We love you”. Everyone on stage was packed in and smiling ear to ear. As they stated, Ultimate Fakebook loves Manhattan, and beyond a shadow of a doubt, Manhattan loves them back. Friday’s lineup left us all feeling spoiled and ecstatic to have such killer local bands to call our own.
