LEVITATE MUSIC FESTIVAL DAY 3

Levitate Music Festival Day 3, Marshfield State Fairgrounds, Marshfield, MA. 7/7/24.

Day 3 was the day everyone had been waiting for with Sublime headlining with the addition of original lead singer Bradley Nowell’s son Jakob Nowell, as the new frontman of the band. The day opened up with Little Stranger; a Philly group who always put on a great show. The show started out with everyone rocking, “Hello my name is Stranger,” stickers on their shirts. The band plays a unique genre characterized as alternative hip hop, featuring the saxophone and the trumpet in addition to rapping and singing. At one point in their set, the band came into the crowd to sing and interacte with their fans. After an amazing opening set, everyone made their way over to the style stage to check out Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country. Daniel brought a twangy rock n’ roll vibe that got everybody dancing along. One of the highlights of the day was local ska/punk band The Rins, who jumped all over the stage converting many festival goers into new fans that day. Another great act on Sunday was Richy Mitch and the Coal Miners, a band who have had many top trending songs on social media this year. After Richy Mitch was Ziggy Alberts, an Australian alternative singer who brought a really cool vibe to the day. During Ziggy’s performance, as the sun was starting to set, the rays illuminated the stage from behind casting a luminous glow over Ziggy and the crowd. After Ziggy was Karina Rykman, one of the few female rock bass players sporting a super cool cosmic outfit. Karina kept the people of Levitate up on their feet and dancing for her whole set, getting them ready for Oliver Anthony. Oliver Anthony, is a country folk songwriter that created a large fanbase on TikTok within the last year. He had great stage banter and told the crowd he was super excited to see Sublime to which he got a roaring applause. After Oliver was time for the legendary Charley Crockett, a musician who makes you feel like you hopped into a time machine. The highlight of his set was when he switched to electric guitar and played “I’m Just A Clown” and broke into several big guitar riffs. The final act of Levitate Music Festival 2024 was fan favorite and all time legendary band, Sublime. While waiting for the show to start, fans spotted Jakob Newell peaking out from behind side stage to take a look at the crowd and everyone erupted in cheers, excited for their set to kick off. The band led off with “Garden Grove” a crowd favorite that could instantly get everybody up on their feet. The crowd became a sea of cell phones when they played “Wrong Way” an all time Sublime classic early on in their set. They continued to play a bunch of hits including “What I Got”, “Badfish, and “Doin Time”. A surprise at the show was when the band brought out 2023 Levitate headliner, Stick Figure and played their song “Feel Like That” which was an incredible moment to witness. After that was what everyone had been waiting for, the band went into their all time hit “Santeria” and there wasn’t a person in the venue who wasn’t singing along. They thanked Boston for an incredible night and just like that the weekend came to a close. Within days after the festival the dates for 2025 were released and you can already imagine how incredible the lineups will be. Looking forward to next year on the festival grounds.
