ARIZONA/YELLOWCARD/THIRD EYE BLIND
Arizona/Yellowcard/Third Eye Blind, Freedom Mortgage Pavilion, Camden, NJ. 7/12/24.
With Yellowcard and Third Eye Blind in the same lineup it was bound to be a stellar show. Opening up the night was Arizona a pop rock band from New Jersey that was excited to be playing a hometown show. I was blown away by their stage presence running, jumping, and interacting with each other. When Yellowcard came out they instantly brought their A game. Right away in their set the violinist came running along the riser and did a huge jump towards the singer. They continued that same energy throughout their entire set playing alongside each other and jumping up and down. The highlight of their set was when they played their all time hit song “Ocean Avenue” that got everyone in the crowd singing along. Headliner Third Eye Blind came out with their keyboard playing under a spotlight until the rest of the members joined him in a huge cloud of haze. They led off their set with “Motorcycle Drive By” a song from 1997 that was a cool way to ease into their set. When they played “Never Let You Go” early on the crowd erupted in cheer and took out their phones to capture the moment for themselves. They played my personal favorite of their songs with “Slow Motion” a ballad that leaves people trying to figure out the meaning. They instantly went into two of their most popular songs with “Jumper” and “Semi-Charmed Life” songs that everybody in America should know. The crowd was able to will one more song out of the band so they encored to play “How’s It Going to Be” another worldly 90’s hit. They thanked the New Jersey crowd for an incredible night.
