LEVITATE MUSIC FESTIVAL DAY 2
Levitate Music Festival Day 2, Marshfield State Fairgrounds, Marshfield, MA. 7/6/24.
After an unexpected rain delay on day two, Philadelphia’s Snacktime, an instrumental band featuring a sousaphone, took the stage and got everybody moving setting up the day with lots of energy and good vibes. On the Stoke Stage, Mihali the singer of Twiddle surprised the crowd and came out with G Love and the Special Sauce to play a couple of songs. Once Mihali thanked the crowd and left the stage, G Love, another Philadelphia native came out and rocked the stage. When it came time for The Hip Abduction, there wasn't an empty spot left in the crowd. Fans filled in from the front of the stage all the way to the food vendors in the back. A local band, The Mark King band played a funky cool set on the Soul Stage until the Legendary Cory Wong’s set started on the main stage. Cory intro’d to Shaggy’s “Boombastic”, before running around and playing guitar all over the stage. Following Cory’s set was Iration, a reggae pop band who had lots of nostalgic songs like “Time Bomb” and “Falling” that had everybody singing along. They kept the reggae vibes going with Joe Samba on the Soul Stage. Joe Samba was another group that seemed to get everyone from the festival to come rock along. Joe, the lead singer, led the set with powerful vocals and was backed by a very energetic band with the guitarist climbing onto the risers and then jumping off. The Elovaters followed with one of the coolest sets of the weekend, featuring both smoke and giant beach balls being released into the air. Later in the set fans were able to ride along in inflatable floats and crowd surf along the venue. After The Elovaters was Australia’s Tash Sultana, one of my favorite musicians. She had a ton of fans in the crowd and they all exploded in cheer when she came running onto the stage. She began looping her music before running into some technical difficulties. The crowd willed her back out onto the stage where she began to show off her incredible musical versatility playing the drums, guitar, saxophone, and a piccolo flute in addition to her amazing vocals. The night closed out with Boston’s own Lake Street Dive, a multi genre band who studied at New England’s Conservatory of Music. The stage was set up with a captivating big semi circle that lit up several different colors throughout the set. The lead singer Rachel Price, showed off her incredible vocal range with the song “Rich Girl” and got the people moving with “Dance With A Stranger”. It was another great day at Levitate, creating lots of anticipation for what the last day of the festival might hold.
