THE GASLIGHT ANTHEM

The Gaslight Anthem at Wind Creek Event Center, Bethlehem, PA. 5/25/23.

When I first stepped into the Wind Creek Event center I couldn’t help but say wow out loud. A massive venue with a super cool vibe right next to the steel stacks in Bethlehem I already knew it was going to be something special. The show opened with Emily Wolfe an artist from Texas who normally plays with a band but was opening up the tour with just her and the guitar. She had a song about the every day grind of working a job in construction and ripped guitar solo’s throughout her set. The second band was Oso Oso who is a 4 piece from Long Beach, New York. They moved all over the stage for their whole set and really got the crowd going. When it was time for The Gaslight Anthem to come out they had cool stage decoration with little action figures all over the amps, a Jersey Devils towel to pay homage to their hometown of New Brunswick, NJ and a drum set that had Bill Hader and Fred Armisen’s faces on it. The band came out to a Tina Turner song to pay tribute after her recent passing and then opened their set with their song “The Queen of Lower Chelsea”. The crowd went wild when they played their all time hit song “45” second in their set and they were jumping up and down and shouting out the lyrics back to the band. Brian Fallon went on to say they don’t make music like they used to and then went on to cover “Chloe Dancer” a Mother Love Bone cover and then next went into “Would” which is an Alice In Chains cover. My favorite cover of the night was when they brought Emily Wolfe on stage and played Pink Floyd’s “Time” and it was just an incredible rendition with tons of energy that really electrified the crowd. They kept Emily up for “The 59 Sound” and then closed with one of their all time hits of “The Backseat”. It was an amazing show and I definitely look forward to seeing The Gaslight Anthem again in the future as well as seeing more shows at The Wind Creek Center.
