KALEO

Kaleo, The Fillmore, Philadelphia, PA. 9/14/24.

I’ve been looking forward to seeing Kaleo for a long time and with Chance Pena opening I knew I had to make it to the show. Chance started off with his powerful vocals and played some songs off of his new album. Philadelphia definitely welcomed Chance Pena and erupted in cheer after each song he played. Kaleo came out one at a time in a cool smoky set and opened up with “USA Today”, “Break My Baby”, and my personal favorite Kaleo song “Broken Bones”. The show continued with amazing guitar and harmonica solo’s all led by the incredible vocals of Jokull Juliusson. A cool moment of the show was when they played “Vor i Vaglaskogi” a song fully in Icelandic while Jokull played on a guitar with the Icelandic flag on it. When it was time for “Way Down We Go” everyone in attendance was screaming and there wasn’t a single person who wasn’t singing along. They closed out with “No Good” and thanked the crowd as they walked off. The crowd was able to will them back to play two more songs including an incredible live performance of “Rock N’ Roller” that had a ton of long solo’s and riffs. When the song came to an end the singer held his guitar in the air thanked the very engaged Philly crowd and headed off the stage.
