JOYWAVE
Joywave, Brooklyn Bowl, Philadelphia, PA. 10/17/24.
It had been a few years since I last saw Joywave so seeing them coming to Philly again I knew I had to be there. The opener for the show was Hunny a pop rock band that really got Philly into the show acknowledging a young fan in the audience on his dad’s shoulders saying that was his favorite fan of the night. In between sets sea shanties played for the whole layover leaving most people in the crowd very confused. As the sea shanties went on longer the crowd found it more comical and you started to hear some people shout “Yeehaw!” The sea shanties came to an end and the band came running out and played “Graffiti Planet”. I was amazed by the energy of the band especially the singer Daniel Armbruster who would run from side to side and then running up to the front fully engaging the audience. They continued playing hits like “Scared” and “Obsession”. The highlight of the show was when they played their all time hit “Dangerous” that got everyone in the crowd dancing along. They closed out their night with “Destruction” and then left the stage. We can’t wait for Joywave to be back.
