GOOD NEIGHBOURS

Good Neighbours, The Fillmore, Philadelphia, PA. 2/21/25.

Last Friday, the Paradise State of Mind Tour made its way through Philadelphia, with headliner Foster the People bringing along British indie-pop band Good Neighbours. Excitement filled the Fillmore as the lights dimmed and the opening sample of Keep It Up began to play. The band rushed onto the stage, launching into their first song, setting the tone for an electrifying set.

This wasn’t my first time seeing Good Neighbours—they played upstairs at The Foundry last September. The band acknowledged this during their set, thanking returning fans and expressing their gratitude to Foster the People for bringing them on tour.

As a photographer, I shot the first three tracks from the pit before heading into the crowd to fully enjoy the rest of the show. I had brought my mom and best friend along, and both were captivated by the performance. My mom, a big St. Lucia fan, immediately connected with the band’s sound, while my friend, who had seen them with me last year, was thrilled to experience their live energy again.

One of the highlights of the night was their recent single, Ripple. Though it had been part of their live set for a year, it was finally released on streaming platforms—and it’s quickly become my favorite track of theirs. Midway through the performance, the band paused dramatically, teasing the audience before launching back in, earning an enthusiastic reaction. They wrapped up their set with their hit Home and closed on Daisies, a track that evokes a sense of wistful reflection while keeping the crowd’s energy high in anticipation of Foster the People.

After the show, I met the band at the merch table. I ran into three fans who had custom-stitched the band’s logo onto their shirts, creating their own homemade merch to show their support. The band was incredibly friendly, encouraging me to take a photo with them—something I don’t normally do. It was a special moment to meet artists I’ve grown so fond of over the past year and capture that connection in a photo. I shared my appreciation for their music, and they signed my record, promising to return to Philly soon. Their genuine, positive energy was not only reflected in their performance but in their interactions with fans, making the experience all the more memorable.

You better believe I’ll be at their next show—and I hope to see you there too!
