FOSTER THE PEOPLE

Foster the People, The Fillmore, Philadelphia, PA. 2/21/25.

It had been 12 years since I last saw Foster the People and it’s always been a show that stood out in my mind. When I saw that Foster the People would be stopping in Philadelphia at one of my favorite venues the show was a no brainer. Right when you walked into the venue the crowd already stretched to the back of the venue. The opener for the show was Good Neighbours, an alternative/indie band from East London. They came out swinging right out of the gate jumping all over the stage. Early on in the show an audience member passed up their sign wishing the drummer a happy birthday. Good Neighbours told the crowd that they had played the room upstairs within the last year and were so excited to be down playing on the big stage. When they started playing “Home” everybody person in attendance had their phone out or was singing along. When their set was over they thanked Philly and asked if everyone was ready for Foster the People. As the band members all came to stage the crowd erupted in “Mark Mark Mark” chants. He came running out to a deafening cheer from the audience. They led off the show with “Feed Me” one of their newer songs from the Paradise State of Mind album. When they got to the third song and everyone could hear the opening of “Helena Beat” everyone went wild jumping up and down and shaking their hair up against the barrier. The 6th song was my personal favorite Foster the People ever “Waste” and I found myself singing along the whole time. A great moment in the show was when they played “Houdini” and “Call It What You Want” and it had the words call it what you want flashing across the screen. They closed out their set with “A Diamond To Be Born” another song off the Paradise State of Mind album but everyone knew they would still encore because they hadn’t played their biggest song and everyone was eagerly waiting for it. They started off their encore with “Sit Next To Me” one of their biggest hits ever but then the moment everybody had been waiting for “Pumped Up Kicks” came on and the crowd began jumping up and down again and danced out the remainder of the show giving a huge ovation when the band walked off the stage.
