LITTLE STRANGER

Little Stranger at The Charleston Pour House.

There were glow wands everywhere.

People were taking cheesesteaks to the face.

Pip the Pansy performed her entire set flanked on either side by her lovable blobs.

DJ Moldybrain’s head was a discoball.

It was everything you’d expect from night 2 of a sold Little Stranger New Years run at the Charleston Pourhouse. And then some. By the time Kevin & John took the stage, the room was absolutely packed. Both of them arrived with sly grins on their faces, knowing they were going to deliver a special night. It was as high energy of an LS show as I’ve ever seen. The band wasted no time spanning their entire catalog, opening the night with “Hollywood Not”, “Won’t Amount to Nothin”, “Brain Fog”, “Queens of the Nile” (written by John’s dad back in the 80s) and “Wop Wop”.

And then there were the collabs. Skip’lo, Pip the Pansy, Sierra Lane and Tour Manager Dan Snell all performed on stage at various points in the night, cementing the evening as a true family affair. But the standout was the rarely performed live track, “Sunburn” which was accompanied by keyboardist Ross Bogan (Doom Flamingo, a hundred other bands). The crowd sang along and it proved to be a perfect slow down before the band closed out the night with a wild “Red Rover”, which saw rapper Jarv, who has a verse on the studio track, join the band.

When the clock struck midnight, the room erupted, everyone on stage (and in the crowd) hugged and kissed and cheesesteaks were tossed into the crowd (s/o Yous Guys Sandwich Shop). It marked the end of a very successful year for Little Stranger, which saw them release an album, hit the major festival circuit and complete a 2 month tour with Andy Frasco.

I’m not crying, you’re crying.
