MINKA MASQUERADE

Minka Masquerade at Brooklyn Bowl.

The Minka Masquerade was one for the ages. When I showed up for the show the band was standing at the front handing out masquerade masks for anyone who didn’t have one and getting people excited for the show. After both they and opener Velvet Rouge had sound checked we took a few pre-show portraits at the bowling alley in the masquerade masks and then they went back to get fully ready for the show. Velvet Rouge played a great opening set and she was all over the stage and would come down low singing into the camera. Velvet Rouge seemed to have a bunch of fans in the crowd because they were all very excited to see their set. Minka took the stage in a massive headset mask and had a microphone attached to it so he could dance for the entirety of the show. He would randomly leave the stage so that the band could play to the crowd. In between Minka’s sets they had a burlesque show that the crowd thought was very fun and then before you knew it they were back on stage, This time he had a mask with horns and again stripped down to just his underwear throughout the set. When they played the song “Kid’s These Days” everyone in the crowd was dancing. Was a super fun show and can’t wait for the next masquerade.
