FOALS

Foals at Franklin Music Hall

The last time I had seen Foals was in 2014 as a short set in the 104.5 Birthday show so I was excited to see a full headlining set. I was totally unaware of what a performance Foals puts on. The first opener’s name was Glove and they played a very funky 80’s sounding set that was heavy on the synthesizer. The next opener was a great set by Inner Wave. where it was some pretty heavy rock and they got the crowd involved and ready to see Foals. After a brief time in between bands Foals came out to “Wake Me Up” which was the perfect first song to come out to. They continued to play songs from their new/older album and I can honestly say there wasn’t a single song that was amazing. They played my two favorites of “2001” and “My Number” early in the set. They closed out their set by playing their all time hit “Mountain At My Gates” before coming back out for an encore and playing two more. During the encore all the members of the band came onto the drum set while the singer came down the stairs and did a whole lap around the venue even up the stairs. The band continued playing up on the drum set until he finally joined them up in the center of stage, it was incredible. They closed out with “Two Steps, Twice” and then the drummer threw his sticks into the crowd and another member of the band gave away the setlist to a fan who had a sign asking for it. I highly recommend a Foals show in a city near you.
