Smallpools, Dreamers, + Young Rising Sons

Smallpools, dreamers, + Young Rising Sons At Brookly Bowl

Being my first time at Brooklyn Bowl Philly a rather new venue I didn’t know what to expect. I walked upstairs and saw a half bowling alley half stage venue that looked like a pretty cool set up. The first opener for the show was Young Rising Son’s who I was already a fan of being a local New Jersey band. Because of a 30 minute pushed back start there was a built anticipation for the show to start. Right from the first song they had the crowd jumping up and down. Two highlights of their set were when they played their hit song “sad” and also when they had everyone in the crowd while up their cellphone flash lights and sang a slow song. Towards the end of the set, the singer came out into the crowd and continued the rest of the song from in the crowd. When the set came to an end the guitarist chucked his guitar and they were done. Next up was co headliner Dreamers who I knew a few songs from, they came out hard with their drummers hair flipping up and down as she crushed it on the drums. The lights and energy made it an incredible set with the highlight being when they played their hit song “Sweet Disaster” which I couldn’t help singing along to while I was shooting. Smallpools came out and led off with “Over and Over” “Stumblin’ Home” and “Passenger Side” which were an amazing first 3 songs. The singer was moving all over the stage and singing above the photographers, then he decided to come out onto the divider of the photo pit and crowd and sang to the crowd from right in front. They played a couple covers throughout their set one being “Creep” by Radiohead and another was “Everybody Wants to Rule the World”. They closed out their set with their huge hit “Dreaming” before coming out to encore another cover of “You Get What You Give” and “Karaoke”.
