Brittany Howard/Michael Kiwanuka, The Met, Philadelphia, PA. 9/29/24.
It’s not every day you get to see two powerhouse musicians such as Brittany Howard and Michael Kiwanuka; so when I saw them both playing at the Met I knew I couldn’t miss it. Brittany’s band came out first growing the anticipation for when she ran out to a huge applause from the audience. She came out in a sparkly sequin dress that sparkled throughout the entire set. She led off the night with “I Don’t” and continued playing her hits as well as a Nina Simone cover of “Revolution”. Michael Kiwanuka came out with a cool stage set up with circular panels behind him and a disco ball overhead. He led off with the song “Hard to Say Goodbye”, “You Ain’t the Problem”, and “Rolling”. The highlight of Michael’s set was when he played all time hit “Cold Little Heart” that had everyone in the audience singing along. He closed out with “Love and Hate” and then thanked the Philly crowd for an amazing night.
