WATERPARKS
Waterparks, The Fillmore, Philadelphia, PA. 3/20/24.
Everybody knows when you see Waterparks coming to town they’re going to put on a great show. The show started with Sophie Powers a high energy 19 year old alternative/indie singer. The crowd was already filled in by the time she started her set. After some early sound issues she fully got the audience to connect and it started the crowdsurfing for the rest of the night. After Sophie’s set was time for Loveless an alternative rock duo from Los Angeles. Loveless was loving being in Philly and got everybody excited by yelling go birds and fly Eagles fly. The highlight of their set was when a song ended and multiple continued on crowdsurfing in the dark even between songs getting the band to say they loved the crowd. When it was time for Waterparks it was easy to be intrigued by the stage set up with high stairs on both sides as well as large doors with red crosses on them. Awsten Knight came out in his usual green face paint and utility gloves and sporting a hat that said soul sucker on it that he took off a couple songs in. The band was all over the stage giving the crowd an awesome show. The highlight of their set was when they did a cover of Liz Phair’s “Why Can’t I” which had everyone in attendance singing along and feeling nostalgic.
