Concert Review: Wale’s Every Blue Moon Tour – Houston Turns Up for a Night of Lyricism, Love, and Loyalty

Wale’s Every Blue Moon tour stop in Houston was everything fans could’ve hoped for—a celebration of his entire catalog that felt like a party and a love letter to the fans who’ve supported him from day one. From the start, the energy was electric, with a packed house of people singing, dancing, and vibing together. The crowd’s excitement was contagious, creating a positive atmosphere that made it clear this was more than just another concert.

Opening the night was Foggieraw, who took the stage in a vintage Rockets jersey, making his set personable blending humor, poetry, and a setlist featuring tracks with R&B stars like Ari Lennox. But it was his collaboration with Alicia Keys on “Psalm 62” that stole the show, drawing cheers and getting fans to sing along. By the time he wrapped up, Houston was already buzzing, and the DJ kept the momentum going, spinning classic R&B and hip-hop that had everyone dancing and singing, setting the stage perfectly for Wale’s entrance.

When Mr. Folarin himself finally hit the stage, he opened with “Bad” and dove into a setlist spanning his entire career. He served up hits like “Diced Pineapples,” “Sue Me,” “Pole Dancer,” “Bait,” and “Chain Music,” with the crowd passionately reciting every lyric. For the more R&B-driven songs, longtime collaborator Sam Dew joined him, his vocals sounding flawless, just like on the records. Sam’s soulful delivery added depth to tracks like "LoveHate Thing" and “The Need to Know,” creating an unforgettable experience.

Throughout the night, Wale’s gratitude to his fans was undeniable. He took moments to perform from different parts of the venue—even making his way up to the second-floor balcony—making everyone feel appreciated and seen. As a true token of his gratitude, he signed autographs mid-show, engaged directly with the crowd, and even accepted a flag from a fan, connecting with the audience in a way that felt genuine and heartfelt. He was visibly having a great time on stage, dancing, laughing, and showing off his personality.

The night wrapped up with a high-energy performance of “No Hands” as Foggieraw and other crew joined Wale on stage, leaving the crowd on a high. This tour wasn’t just a showcase of Wale’s hits; it was a testament to his connection with his fans, his loyalty to his signature style, and his ability to stay relevant over the years. Houston showed up, and Wale delivered a night that perfectly reminded everyone why he’s had the longevity he has—respected, loved, and always true to himself.
