UNKNOWN MORTAL ORCHESTRA

Unknown Mortal Orchestra at The Fillmore, Philadelphia, PA. 4/21/23.

Shooting an Unknown Mortal Orchestra show you have to shoot the whole thing on film so I was excited for the challenge going into the show. If you follow the band on Instagram you know their shows are a crazy experience as the venue is pretty much completely dark besides a lit UMO sign behind them in a massive haze of smoke. The show started with their opener Seafood Walls who is a 4 piece band from South Florida and really set the tone for the show. When it was time for Unknown Mortal Orchestra to come out the crowd went nuts as they left off with “The Garden” which were the perfect vibes to start off with. They continued with an amazing set before closing with “Layla” and “Multi Love” and then said thank you Philly and headed off the stage but you knew they wouldn’t leave that quickly. They came back out from encore to play six more songs including the Grateful Dead cover of “Shakedown Street” their all time hit of “Hunnybee” and finally closed with “Can’t Keep Checking My Phone”. The singer had some great moves doing a spin move with his guitar and kept coming up to the edge of the stage and singing down to the crowd. I hope they tour again soon because their show was an amazing experience.
