THE AMITY AFFLICTION

The Amity Affliction, Franklin Music Hall, Philadelphia, PA. 5/31/24.

As a long time fan of The Amity Affliction I was thrilled to see they were coming to Philadelphia especially with the band Currents opening up for them. Currents who is a progressive metal band from Newtown Connecticut came out bringing the energy straight out of the gate. They led off with “Never There” and instantly people started crowd surfing and the mosh pit broke out in the middle of the venue. They next went into “Monsters” a hit song they put out in 2020 from the Way It Ends album. The highlight of the set was when they played their hit song “Remember Me” that had the crowd singing along. When Amity Affliction came out to “Pittsburgh” they took the whole crowd by surprise hearing it that early in the show. I was blown away by how much ground the singer covered around the stage. After a few songs the singer told the crowd to really open up the mosh pit which got people doing cartwheels through it and doing flips. When the song started everyone went nuts and it was one of the biggest mosh pits I’ve ever seen. They closed out their set with “Give It All” before thanking Philly and walking off the stage. They came back on to play a 5 song encore which we thought would actually be the end. They surprised the crowd by coming out to play two more songs including it’s “Hell Down Here” and “Soak Me In Bleach” and left to an eruption of cheer for a room of fully satisfied fans.
