SLIPKNOT

Slipknot, Freedom Mortgage Pavilion, Camden, NJ. 8/10/24.

Shooting a slipknot show has been on my bucket list for a long time. With the 25th anniversary tour coming through town I was ecstatic when I was approved to shoot their Freedom Mortgage Pavilion show in Camden. The show opened up with Orbit Culture, a Swedish Metal band who was able to connect with the crowd and get everybody moshing and jumping up and down. After Orbit Culture was Knocked Loose, a hardcore punk band from Kentucky. The band’s energy running all over the stage was infectious and fully rubbed off on the audience. At one point I saw a man dressed as Santa Claus in the mosh pit get knocked over and then was crowd surfed out of the mosh. During the break between bands you could feel the anticipation building for Slipknot. When “Dream Weaver” started blasting over the speakers everyone in attendance knew it was time. The band came out one at a time with each member receiving a huge ovation. When Corey Taylor came out the crowd exploded in cheer and then the band went into “Sic” a song from 1999 and a personal favorite of mine. They continued playing songs off the 1999 self titled album and played “Eyeless” and “Wait and Bleed” next. Everyone in attendance was extremely engaged the entire show and anyone you talked to after it was over would tell you it was one for the ages.
