KHRUANGBIN
Khruangbin, The Met, Philadelphia, PA. 5/21/24.
As a long time fan of Khruangbin I was excited to see they were coming to Philadelphia especially for 3 straight nights. With the first night of their tour they had an outdoor party going on outside the venue with a DJ, food, and drinks when you arrived. The opener for the show was John Carroll Kirby a pianist from Los Angeles who brought a cool vibe to the show. In between sets everyone went back outside to enjoy the festivities but made it back for the start of Khruangbin. When they took the stage there was a bunch of haze as each member walked out. The first song each member stayed up top of the stage as with each song the movement of the band grew more and more. By the third song Mark Speer had made it down to the front of the stage in a cloud of smoke. They stuck to playing mostly songs off their new album for the first set and then took a break to return and play some of their older tracks including one of their all time hits “Maria Tambien”. After finishing their second set the crowd was able to will them to come out and play a two song encore before they finally thanked Philadelphia for an amazing show. Luckily for Philadelphians there were two more nights of opportunity to see them.
