KING GIZZARD & THE LIZARD WIZARD

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Dell Music Center, Philadelphia, PA. 8/27/24.

I’ve been wanting to see King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard for many years and once they announced the show I made sure to mark it down as my can’t miss show for the year. When talking to people in the audience so many people seemed to be traveling around with the band saying I just saw them in New York or I just saw them in Boston, I knew I was in for a special night. The opener for the show was Geese a rock band from Brooklyn with a lot of popularity of their own. Geese led off their six song set with “Islands of Men” a new song of theirs they just released. They closed out their set with their album titled “4D Country” and left to a loud applause from the audience. The anticipation for KGLW was building as you never know what they’re going to play in their set. They came out one at a time each getting the crowd more and more pumped up with each entrance. The band started off with “Minimum Brain Size” the perfect song to get everyone into the show. When they played their hit song “Static Electricity” for the first time on the tour it came as an amazing surprise to the crowd and got everyone jumping up and down. The band made sure to take brief pauses between songs to entertain the Philly crowd with cheeky banter. They continued with their setlist playing “I’m In Your Mind” and “I’m Not In Your Mind” back to back. Another highlight of the set was when they played “Gilgamesh” for the first time ever live which was special for the Philly crowd. It was an incredible night put on by the psychedelic Australian band.
