JOE P

Joe P at The Foundry, Philadelphia, PA. 4/29/23.

If an artist you really like is ever playing the Foundry in Philadelphia it’s a must go because the venue is the perfect intimate setting to see a show. Having seen Joe P in the past I already know he’s a wild live show bouncing all over the stage ripping guitar solos and getting the crowd involved. The opener for the show was Peter Raffoul a soulful singer with some big curls. After a great set he ended it by telling a story how he used to drive his neighbors crazy practicing this one part all so that one day a crowd would sing it back to him. He got the whole crowd singing the line back to him and said he loved playing Philly. By the time Joe P took the stage you couldn’t even move around the venue because it was sold out and completely packed. The crowd was full of true Joe P fans because every time he would start a new song the crowd would erupt in excitement and would know the lyrics to every song. When he played “Color TV” he had the crowd sing the chorus line along with him and it seemed like every person in the audience was singing. The highlight of the show for me was when he talked about growing up in Asbury Park and how he loved Bruce Springsteen and then went into “I’m On Fire”. He. closed with his hit “Off My Mind” and then took his encore and came back to play a new song called “Birthday Baby”.
