HOZIER
Hozier at World Cafe Live, Philadelphia, PA. 5/9/23.
It's not every day that you get to see a major act in a 650 capacity venue, but that's what happened on Tuesday night at World Cafe Life when Hozier arrived to play an intimate sold out show in Philly. It was 1 of 10 dates in small clubs around the US, in part to introduce his new band and in part to promote his new EP, Eat Your Young. From the opener "Like Real People Do" to the closer "Work Song", Hozier ran through a mix of hits, new songs, and lesser known older tracks - all of which were well received by the crowd. The best part about these small shows is that you can tell they're mostly made up of hardcore fans. There were signs with song requests and birthday shoutouts - one crowd member was even pulled up on stage to perform "Cherry Wine". Hoziers unmistakable voice sounds just like it does on his records and easily filled the room (which sounded outstanding). Add that to with a full backdrop and excellent lighting production, this one was a show for the books.
