GOOSE
Goose, The Mann Center, Philadelphia, PA. 6/28/24.
In front of a packed crowd, Goose dazzled their loyal fans to a night of jams, guest appearances, and a light spectacular in West Philadelphia at the Mann Center for the Performing Arts. You could feel the excitement in the air, as I joined the parade of fans slowly making their way from the grassy tailgating areas to the front gates, on a perfectly temperate night in one of the city’s largest indoor/outdoor venues. The band has gained much attention in recent years, especially since their performance at the 2019 Peach Festival. As though anyone in attendance needed evidence that the band has become a staple in the jam band scene, the group informed the crowd midway through the performance that this was their largest show to date, since forming in 2014.
The group welcomed some guests onstage during the night, much to the crowd’s surprise, as Blind Melon guitarist Roger Stevens joined the band to perform their 1992 hit “No Rain,” followed by Mt. Joy’s Matt Quinn complementing the band and adding vocals as Goose performed their song “California Magic.”
With no opener, Goose dazzled the crowd with two magical sets that kept the crowd on their feet and grooving the whole evening. Known for their light theatrics, the stage setup lent perfectly to the vibe, as swirls of colors and geometric projections lit up the stage in a tie-dye of color. Goose flew into the city of the Bird’s and did not disappoint.
