FLIPTURN

Flipturn, Franklin Music Hall, Philadelphia, PA 4/11/25.

The last time I saw Flipturn was at Ardmore Music Hall a 500 person capacity venue. Now seeing them play an absolutely jam packed 2500 person venue  has shown how much the band has grown the last couple years. The opener for the night was The Stews, another band I was excited to see again. The Stews play what seems like a heavy jam set with singer Preston Hall mixing in his cool raspy voice. They played their new song “Chicken Fight” which really rocked the crowd. They played a great 45 minute set gaining lots of new fans in the audience. Flipturn came out to a loud ovation and instantly went into “Juno”, “Burnout Days”, and “Inner Wave”, all songs off of their new Burnout Days album. After the first 3 singer Dillon Basse said “Hey Philly do you want to hear some old songs” and played a familiar hit with “Sad Disco” and then a few songs later asked the crowd if they wanted to “hear a song about Whales” and broke into hit their hit of “Whales”. A cool moment in the show was when the singer made his way into the crowd and serenaded the crowd. A few songs later the drummer brought his drums into the crowd and had everyone surround him as he played. The band continued the hits and played “Moon Rocks”, “August”, and “Space Cowboy” and then thanked Philadelphia and threw their drumsticks into the crowd and walked off. The crowd willed them back out to play all time hits of “Chicago” and “Nickel” as they sang along to the entire songs. Now the band officially thanked Philly and bassist Madeline Jarman reached into the crowd and took a fan’s “it’s always sunny in Flipadelphia (except today) sign as a souvenir. Can’t wait to see where Flipturn ends up next.
