CATBIRD MUSIC FESTIVAL DAY 2
Catbird Music Festival: Bethel Arts Center, Bethel, NY. 8/19/23.
Day 2 of Catbird was another magical day in Bethel New York. With a more country lineup on day 2 you could see cowboy hats, boots, and overalls in the crowd. Some small stage highlights included sets from a Madeleine Edwards who had a big country voice and got the crowd dancing early. The small stage also featured sets from Eggy a cool jam band and Allison Russell a super talented Americana folk singer that briefly told her story of her past abuse and how it inspired her song “4th day prayer”. The main stage featured some incredible talent starting with country singer Morgan Wade, followed by Amos Lee, and the incredible Dispatch who stole the show. Another amazing performance from the main stage was Charley Crockett who had an old country feel about him and that his music felt that it could fit in any time period. In the two days of Catbird no act got the crowd dancing more than Charley with him dancing all over the stage himself. After Charley was the amazing Trey Anastasio band and you could see who was there to see them because their fans were dancing from the start of the set to the end with no breaks like it was a Phish show. By the time of Tyler Childers you couldn’t even move around because it was fully packed in the venue. Tyler’s set had an extremely cool stage set up with taxidermy squirrels playing cards, a possum in the front of the stage and an old fashioned TV set up in the middle of the stage. He impressed the crowd instantly with his incredible vocals. By the time he played Whitehorse Road he had the whole crowd singing along and you could see a sea of cellphone filming it. After an unbelievable set he received a deafening ovation from a very satisfied crowd. I’m already looking forward to Catbird next year!
