MAGIC CITY HIPPIES
Magic City Hippies at the TLA.
I was nervous if anyone was even going to be at this show with the Eagles divisional playoff game going on, but even still the Magic City Hippies fans packed the house. It all started with opener Capyac putting on a strange and funky set. After it started out with someone on the keys and guitar a girl came out with a toy pig showing it to the crowd until eventually revealing herself as the main singer of the band. The highlight of their set was when the band took out large sticks of celery and began throwing them into the crowd. After their set was over they handed out stickers to the fans and were done. By the time Magic City Hippies took the stage you couldn’t even move around the venue. When the singer said “how about them Eagles” it got the whole crowd breaking out in Eagles chants before a Giants fan yelled go Giants and got everybody in the crowd booing. The set had a cool neon MCH sign and it was cool seeing a band where multiple members would sing. One exciting moment in their set was when they did a cover of Elton John’s “Benny and the Jets’ but they got the whole crowd going when they played their biggest song “Water Your Garden”.
