A NIGHT OF STARDUST

A Night of Stardust at Union Transfer.

Being the biggest Bowie nut I personally know I was so excited for this show in Bowie’s honor. A whole night of Bowie song’s covered by various Philadelphia artists including one of my personal favorites, Low Cut Connie. The show started with the talented Emily Drinker, a local Philly artist with a big voice and some big hair in her Bowie costume. She came out with lightning bolt tights and some awesome yellow shoes. She sang an all time Bowie song with “Changes” that got the whole crowd singing along but also slowed it down and played one of my personal favorites “Lazarus”. After Emily we got an appearance from Dylan Zangwill a local 16 year old with a big voice. He sang “Under Pressure” and also slowed it down by playing “Five Years”. The night featured other guest appearances from Ours Band’s Jimmy Gnecco and Swing that Cat. The final act was local Philly fan favorites Low Cut Connie who always put on an amazing show. Without a piano I wondered if Adam Weiner would still have his mojo. They played some of the classics with “Rebel Rebel and “Jean Genie” and they were all over the stage, shaking hands with the fans sitting on the edge of the stage, and we got Adam’s patented jump kick. There was a special surprise for the fans when they brought out hall of fame drummer from the Go-Go’s Gina schock. She came out and played two songs with the band and left to a huge ovation from the crowd. After Low Cut Connie finished they decided there should be more music so Dylan and Jimmy played a couple songs together and then they brought out everyone to sing “Young Americans” which was a great group song to end it.
