THE STRUTS
The Struts, The Stone Pony, Philadelphia, PA. 8/3/24.
The Struts concert at the Stone Pony Summer Stage in Asbury Park, NJ, was quite the eventful evening. Heavy storms rolled in, and although the venue operates rain or shine, lightning forced a delay in the doors opening until 9 PM. Unfortunately, this meant Barns Courtney, who was scheduled to open, couldn't perform.
Fans, wrapped in ponchos, formed lines around the venue, eagerly waiting to see their favorite band. Many had traveled hours to be there and were determined not to go home without a show. This determination was shared by the band, crew, and venue staff, especially after last year's Struts show was rained out and canceled. Everyone was committed to making this performance happen for the fans.
When The Struts finally took the stage, they brought their signature high-energy performance, though their set had to be cut short due to the returning thunder and lightning. Despite the shortened performance, The Struts delivered a dazzling and magical show. Their dynamic presence, especially from lead singer Luke Spiller, kept the crowd energized and engaged throughout. Adam Slack on guitar, Jed Elliott on bass, and Gethin Davies on drums each contributed to the electrifying atmosphere, showcasing their exceptional talent.
At the end of the show, Luke promised the audience that they would be back soon to do the show right. Even with the weather interruptions, The Struts proved why they are one of the best rock bands around.
