CAN’T SWIM

Can’t Swim, The Stone Pony, Asbury Park, NJ. 5/19/24.

On May 19th, 2024, I finally saw New Jersey’s beloved rock group Can't Swim, along with Belmont and Capstan, live at The Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ. Despite Can't Swim being a hometown favorite, I had never seen them perform live. Capstan, on the other hand, was new to the New Jersey scene, having never played in the area before.

Capstan kicked off the night, immediately captivating the crowd with their energetic blend of post-hardcore and progressive sounds, setting an exciting tone for the evening. Belmont followed with a high-energy set with everyone moshing and singing along passionately. Their mix of pop-punk and hardcore, combined with their engaging stage presence and tight playing, made for a killer performance!

Can't Swim closed the night with a powerful and emotional set. It was evident that their raw, heartfelt lyrics and gritty sound resonated deeply with the crowd. The intense connection between the band and their fans was palpable, with everyone screaming, jumping, and moshing all night. The intimate club setting of The Stone Pony made the experience even more unforgettable. It felt like being part of something special in the local Jersey Shore music scene. What a great way to kick off the start of summer!
