MT.JOY

Mt. Joy at Ardmore Music Hall

We were lucky enough to spend two nights with Mt. Joy at Ardmore Music Hall for the Philly Music Festival. As early as doors opened their were lines for people trying to get in and get a good spot. Night one opened with Marielle Kraft, and Electric Candlelight and night two opened with stereo love and Saleka who all put on incredible performances of their own. By the point of Mt. Joy coming to the stage the crowd was completely full. Night one they opened with “Lemon Tree, “Let Loose”, and Strangers and night two they opened with “Evergreen”, “Strangers”,and “Let Loose”. They continued to play their hits including “Sheep” “Astrovan” “Orange Blood” and more which really had the crowd jumping up and down with excitement as each one began. On the second night someone held a sign that they would give her kidney if they played the song “Bug Eyes” at which Matt pointed out and said he’d play as long as she kept all of her organs. A big hit was when they played their song “Julia” mixed with covers of Bill Withers’ “Ain’t No Sunshine” and “Clint Eastwood” by the Gorillaz. They closed the first night with their hit “Silver Lining” and then the second night they teased closing with that again but came out to keep his promise and play “Bug Eyes” for the fan with sign and then closed the night out with Jenny Jenkins. Overall it was an amazing two nights and we can’t wait until Mt. Joy is back in Philadelphia.
