BLACK PUMAS
Black Pumas: The Fillmore, Philadelphia, PA. 1/18/24.
I was counting down the days on my calendar for this Black Pumas show as they’re one of my favorite bands. The opener for the show was Digable Planets a 90’s jazz rap band that brought a cool energy to open up the show. After playing a great set they closed it out with their hit song “Cool Like That” which has been in several movies and shows throughout the years. When Black Pumas came out to “Fire” the audience was already hooked with Eric Burton moving all over the stage and showing off his unbelievable vocal range. He came up to the front of the stage multiple times to sing to the crowd but this was a prelude to the third song where he would incredibly jump over the pit and into the crowd. Another highlight of the night was when they played “October 33” which drew a big reaction from the crowd. To close out their set they played their hit song “Colors” that had everyone in attendance singing along. The band took a bow and left the stage but not before coming back out to play two more songs and call it a magical night.
